I think this book barely have a climax. The whole book is about the internal conflict of Meursault, his attitude toward life. He seems to supporting the idea about life is meaningless. So the whole story line goes very calm. I think the most turbulence point of the story is the part where Meursault meets with a chaplain, and claims that he doesn't believe in God. Meursault's internal struggle in his time leads him to have pressure and annoyance about the society. At the point when he yells out his idea about life, he reaches the break point of himself.
The social commentary shows from the attitude of Meursault toward life. He doesn't care about anything even the death of his mother. It tells that the life in Meursault's time is hopeless, there were no goals and future. That is why Meursault shows a discourage in life.
I really think the book is really really boring. It is all about the internal conflict of the character. Even though the interior mind of Meursault is important to show the social commentary, it is really hard to have a resonance to it without the historical background. And because Meursault have a normal boring life like everybody else, reading about his life is really boring.....

When people reach a certain age, they will always have a question about why they are here in the world, what is their value of a being. They would have a thought of they are not needed. The world is a big place and every normal individual are like ants in the desert, too small to even notice. Existentialism is a philosophical movement in which individual human beings are understood as having full responsibility for creating the meanings of their own lives. The main character of the book is just going through a process of life of finding his own value of life. Meursault seems to have no care on anything, even his mom's death. Everyting to him is just meaningless, he is isolated from the moral society. His life is just so boring that he didn't know what his desire or dream is, he is lose in the society.
